MACHINE CONFIGURATION

2.1
Unrolling arrangement lengthwise, simple unrolling, roll change during standstill, device for inserting paper rolls, pneumatic clamping spindle, diameter of sleeve bore 70 mm, adjustable paper roll brake, automatic web tension regulator

2.1.1
Sheet suction effective on both sides, rotation brushes exchangeable and adjustable, ionizing elements, dust catcher, suction with extract fan, magnetic plates on both sides of sheet to remove any steel splinters that may be present.

2.1.2
Intake traction group electronically controlled front-feed device for maintaining constant pre-selected sheet tension upstream the unit for intermittent sheet transport.

2.1.3
Shutdown facility automatic shutdown facility between all traction groups for stopping the machine if the sheet tears.

2.1.4
Edge control for intake of the precisely aligned sheet into the printing press; sensing heads can be adjusted for any sheet width, with regulation possible along the left or right edge or along the middle of the sheet.

2.1.5
Intermittent web run unit for intermittent paper feed for producing continuous printouts with variable format passage of the web but without unprinted spaces being interspersed. Infinite variability in the range 280 to 580 mm. The format is set through a rotary switch mounted on the control panel. The electronically controlled drive monitors the print and repeat lengths and keeps them constant.

2.2
Collective print for letter set the ungummed obverse side of the sheet is printed on. None of the cylinders runs on bearer rings; this makes it possible to put them in without changing adjustments in the My area. The entire printing unit has an oil-tight and dust-tight enclosure on the drive and operator side.

2.2.1
Print cylinder Without lining, surface is corrosion resistant. Supported without backlash in several rows of high precision, adjustable roller bearings.

2.2.2
Rubber
blanket
cylinder

2 print segments on the circumference, for each segment an end to end rubber blanket, which is as wide as
3 plates, is spanned.
4 tensioning devices for stretching the rubber blankets in both directions (start and finish of printing).
Thickness of the rubber blankets: 1.6 mm,
2 cushioned holding strips for the overlay
Thickness of the overlay: 0.4 mm
Supported without backlash in several rows of high precision, adjustable roller bearings.
An automatic washing device is installed to clean both rubber blankets.

2.2.3
Form cylinder:3 form cylinders with corrosion-resistant surface.
thickness of print plate 0.83 mm, undercut 0.9 mm.
Print segment circumference 580 mm plus stretching device; i.e. up to 22 brands of size I can be printed in succession. Each form cylinder is equipped with 3 adjacent stretching rails at the beginning and end of the segment. Thus 3 print plates can be clamped adjacent to each other at the same time.

2.2.4
Turning printing on and off for printing cylinder, form cylinder, inking rollers and ink vibrators
Print on: all printing cylinders and inking rollers together or individually
Print off: automatically in case of web rupture or ingress of tramp matter
Manual switch-off of cylinders or of inking rollers allowed. Form inking is possible at standstill of plate cylinder. For each plate cylinder position it is ensured that the inking rollers will not ink the plate ground. The position of the cylinders is electronically monitored.

2.2.5 Compressive strength
- Control - between:
Printing cylinder - rubber cylinder
Plate cylinder - rubber cylinder
Plate cylinder - inking rollers

Will be done in centralized way from the operator’s side and will be indicated by counters.

When regulating the compressive strength between rubber cylinder – printing cylinder, the compressive strength between the plate cylinder and the rubber cylinder as well as the between plate cylinder and inking rollers will be kept unchanged.
All settings can be changed during the normal operation of the machine.

2.2.6 Inking gear 3 colours, mounted in travelling carriage, each composed of:

3 inking roller of various diameters
Inking rollers can be set by small increments to mate form and friction cylinders.
They follow automatically the settings done at print on and print off. The pre-selected setting remains unchanged when adjusting the position of the plate cylinder.
Readjustment of inking rollers during the daily production is not required when using the temperature control.

All rollers can be adjusted during running operation.

4 friction rollers with lateral oscillation of 0 – 30 mm,
The drive of the lateral oscillation is hydraulic type with electronic control. Lift and frequency can be infinitely varied during the running operation and will be shown by a dial indicator.

2 ink wells
with spring cushioned, continuous colour blades, adjusting range distance 24 mm.
The ink wells can be slewed downwards to facilitate cleaning work.

2 doctor blades, with inching drive. The step size is infinitely variable between 0 and 60 mm and will be shown on a counter.

2 dab rollers, with fine adjustment for contact pressure. Double ink wells provide for multiple-choice Iris.

1 roller washing gear with fine adjustment of washing rake, catch pan with drain.
1 separate roller train drive for intake of ink and washing in worn-out condition.

Roller train travel with electro-hydraulic drive. Two speeds to avoid damaging of roller train drive wheels.

Roller train travel locking with 4 catch hooks and locking pins facilitating equal settings for each position.

Safety device incl. 2 safety bars to prevent accidents during move of roller train.

All gears of the roller train gearbox are ground and run in an oil bath. The roller train is provided with an oil and dust tight enclosure both on drive and on operator’s side.

Temperature control with closed circuit.

Reserve: ½ a set of rubber-lined rollers

All three roller trains allow later mounting of KEOBAU ALCOMATIC wet gears.

2.3. Drying unit infinitely variable IR-dryer. The drying capacity is automatically adapted to the printing speed. Furthermore, individual sections can be switched on and off to adapt the dryer to the width of the paper web width.
The web temperature is monitored by contact-less detection and will be displayed in digitals on the control panel. Any heat accumulation occurring in case of machine stop will be drained.

2.3.2 Chill rollers arranged downstream the dryer, suitably dimensioned to match the dryer capacity with electronically controlled drive to keep the paper web tension constant. The cooling water temperature is kept constant by automatic control and the throughput quantity is indicated. Any released solvent vapours will be suction exhausted.

The rollers item 9 and item 10 in drawing No. B-01.570 are designed as chill rollers.

A suction fan of the dryer unit is part of the scope of supply. Also, the fan for the suction of the air over the chill rollers will be supplied.

2.3.3. Edge control The sensing heads arranged to detect the true intake of the paper web into the perforator keeping the side registers can be deliberately set to any paper web width. Free to choice, either the left or right-hand sheet edge or the centre of the web can be taken as reference.

2.3.4. Traction group
To feed the printed paper web into the perforator; incl. adjustable web tension and display.

2.3.5. Register
adjustment Circumferential register device. In addition to the motorized, manually operated adjustment an automatic lengthwise register control “print perforation” is installed.

The print mark reader can be variably adjusted to any required paper web width. It can be scanned on either the left or right-hand sheet side.

2.4. Perforator Heavy duty comb-type perforator Drawing Nr. B.01.570
for perforation of printed paper web.
The perforation inserts permit perforating of any stamp row both in lengthwise and crosswise direction and for folder stamps perforating is done for every second row.
Capacity:
Single web – 145 sheets/minute with 110 stamps of size I
Two web – 290 sheets/minute with 110 stamps of size I

The perforator has a noise-proof enclosure.
The suction device provides for trouble-free transport of the perforation chaff over a distance 25 m.

A later modification to use a round perforator is possible as an option.
